Kaitlyn Willis

Education Ministry Administrative Assistant

Katy is a small-town girl from Azle, Texas who spends most of her time getting lost in day dreams and wonderful books. She was born to her two parents, David Willis and Christi Miller, and became the older sister to her severely autistic brother Luke only 15 months later. Life became all about caring for Luke for the whole family, and it taught her the important lessons of patience, empathy, and the value of enjoying the simple pleasures of life. After filling her heart to the brim with the love of God and endless Disney stories, her dream of using her writing skills for good use began.

After graduating Azle High School in 2011, she made her way to her favorite place in the world: Corpus Christi. There, Katy developed her love for writing and story-telling and graduated with a BA in English (with a minor in Technical Writing) in 2015. She returned home to Fort Worth to help take care of her brother Luke, and to try to make everyone's life as easy as possible.

Katy joined UBC on February 27, 2019 after a long job search. She works as the Educational Assistant, handling Sunday Connect attendance, church database management, and anything else anyone could need help with. When not working at the church or caring for her family, she can be found tucked away anywhere quiet with a book and a cup of coffee. She hopes to one day achieve her dream of becoming the author of a book that can make everyone smile.

What is your favorite way to spend a day off?
I love to catch up on my ever-growing reading list and play videogames. Videogames are just like interactive books, and the stories can be just as phenomenal.

What was your first car?
2009 Honda Element. It had so much space!

What is something you are known for?
Having a soft-spoken voice, being a tad shy, and having an abundance of random marine biology knowledge.
