Help Me Believe
"...God's power is very great for us who believe. That power is the same as the great strength God used to raise Christ from the dead and put him at his right side in the heavenly world." Ephesians 1:19-20
One of my favorite things about the Bible is the way it all connects to tell one big story about God. I can read a passage that reminds me of another one. Then that one links to another which supports yet another. Pretty soon my route through scripture starts looking like a spiderweb, reinforced by related stories and reminders of God's plan and his faithfulness.
Mark tells us a story (in chapter 9) about a father who asked if Jesus could heal his son. Jesus questioned the man's words and faith. The man asked if Jesus could heal the boy. Jesus answered that anything is possible for someone who believes. The boy's father, desperate and pleading, admitted, "I do believe! Help me believe even more!"
I relate to that father and others like him in scripture who believe... but maybe not always as much as we should.
Where do we need God's strength today? Is it for healing? For relationships? For provisions? For comfort? For salvation? God offers us the same power that raised Christ from the dead. His power is very great for those who believe. God, help us believe even more. - Kathy Raines, Minister of Administration
