Words, Thoughts and Deeds
"Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So, glorify God in your body." 1 CORINTHIANS 6:19-20 (ESV)
I often forget that I am actually not my own. It sure feels like it, though. I have my own house, my own car, my own family, my own money … and the list goes on.
However, the only true thing that I HAVE – that I really POSSESS – is salvation through Christ. This world will pass away and everything I listed will one day be gone. The only thing I will truly have is my inheritance in Christ’s death and resurrection. THEREFORE, since my life has been purchased with such great a sacrifice, I must glorify God in my body – that is, in word, thought and deed.
The Psalmist says in Psalm 19:14, “Let the words of my mouth and the meditations of my heart be acceptable in Your sight”.
How can you and I glorify God with words, thoughts, and deeds this week? Let’s start this week in remembrance that we were bought with a price and are no longer our own. We rejoice with thanksgiving in our salvation purchased through Christ. Let’s glorify him in with our whole existence! - Matt Bowen, Minister of Music
